MISSION STATEMENT
Building Bridges of Love and Compassion between Diverse Communities through the Power of Inspirational Entertainment.
Transgender is an umbrella term that includes all significant deviations from the norms of gender and sex. Drag queens, transsexual people, cross-dressers, transvestic fetishists, people who identify as trans-masculine or trans-feminine, people who are genderqueer, etc. are all included. -
I know myself as a Trans Femme Gender Queer person. Here is the definition of the prefix "trans":
a prefix occurring in loanwords from Latin ( transcend; transfix); on this model, used with the meanings “across,” “beyond,” “through,” “changing thoroughly,” “transverse,” in combination with elements of any origin:
transisthmian; trans-Siberian; transempirical; transvalue- TRANS-GENDER !
I do not wish to have surgery. I do not identify as a man. I do not identify as a woman. I am a Two Spirit, Trans Femme, Gender Queer, Transcendent Gendered, "beyond, across, changing thoroughly" gendered person and I am very comfortable with that.
I ran a Transgender support group for many years and understand that the word "transgender" is an umbrella term that encompasses many experiences. Some of us have surgery to change our bodies, and some of us don't. Some of us call ourselves "gender queer", "transexual', "drag queen", "transgender", "two spirit", "faerie", "butch dyke", "fem", "boi", "MTF", "FTM", and many many more. Gender Identity is a very PERSONAL thing and NO ONE outside of yourself can assign you a gender identity. YOU are the one who knows your true gender identity.
I am so proud of my Trans community. I encourage us to stand strong and speak out. Let's get involved in the larger community and let people know who we are. We are beautiful, strong and powerful. The world needs us!
If you would like to talk about gender identity, please email me: yolanda@yolanda.net
In peace and love,
Rev. Yolanda
